Mark O. Conner

Principal

Corporate Treasury Investment Consulting LLC

 

Mark Conner is CTIC's principal consultant. He has been advising fixed income investors since 1983 and his exclusive focus since 1988 has been serving corporate cash investors. His career began as a bond trader with Alex. Brown and Sons and there he later advised corporate clients and managed the cash portfolios of many newly public corporations, including software, healthcare, transportation, telecommunications, and biotechnology companies. While with Alex. Brown, Mark was a member of the Credit Committee of the Flag Investors family of money market mutual funds.

 

Mark also served as a Senior Vice President and Corporate Cash Director of Citigroup Smith Barney for eight years where he assisted clients in the effective investment of more than $15 billion, working with companies ranging in size from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. More recently, Mark was a Director of Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC where he helped Credit Suisse extend its corporate cash services to the global bank's clients. He founded Corporate Treasury Investment Consulting in January, 2008 with the mission of helping companies improve their investment processes.

 

During his career, Mark has developed expertise in all money market investment forms, in regulatory and accounting considerations, and in critical market processes.

 

Mark is a member of the Association for Finance Professionals (AFP) and has lectured in many venues on the subject of short term, fixed income investing. He has helped AFP members prepare for the Certified Treasury Professional exam through classes sponsored by the Mid Atlantic Association for Finance Professionals and is a contributor to the AFP's Exchange Magazine where he regularly presents useful information to practitioners. Mark has been quoted on the subject of short-term investing in numerous financial news venues, has delivered testimony as an expert witness before regulatory adjudicators, and has advised regulators in their investigatory work.

 

Mark is a 1982 graduate of Loyola College in Maryland where he received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Mark is a father of three and resides in Baltimore, Maryland. He also runs an outreach program for at-risk children in Baltimore City and is a board member of a non-profit working to improve environmental conditions in the Chesapeake Bay region.
